Anchorage
n. the condition of being anchored
(Merriam-Webster Dictionary)
n. the desire to hold on to time as it passes, like trying to keep your grip on a rock in the middle of a river, feeling the weight of the current against your chest while your elders float on downstream, calling over the roar of the rapids, “Just let go—it's okay—let go.”
(John Koenig, Dictionary of obscure sorrows)
Life is strange, glorious, beautiful, devastating. It is, among many things, a tension of seeking anchorage (safe harbour and rest) and wanting to let go of expectations, of self, and safe harbour; and experience newness, expressiveness, and even wildness. I write to create and find expression for this—and many other—tensions, desires, experiences and ponderings.
I hope in some way they can give expression to corners of your life, too.
